Music Activities May 4th-8th

Hello 1st Grade!

This week I had some difficulties with uploading new videos, but there will be more next week. This week you are going to start with the songs you have been practicing singing.

Next, play with this new area on Chrome Music Lab called Kandinsky. This one allows you to draw different shapes and each shape makes a different sound. This is called Kandinsky because it's inspired by artist Wassily Kandinsky who compared painting to making music. This one is a lot of fun and is my favorite one!

Have a great week!

Music Activities April 27th-May 1st

Hello 1st Grade!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! This week I have a fun online activity for you that allows you to create your own music! This week we will be exploring Chrome Music Lab. But first, I want you to sing these songs.

Chrome Music Lab is an online resource that allows you to create your own music easily. It is a lot of fun and I hope you enjoy it!

The first section I want you to try is called Song Maker. With Song Maker, you can draw pictures and color in the blocks to play different notes. At the bottom on the left is the Play button. When you press this, it will play the song you composed, or created. Next to the play button are circles with instruments on them. You can click these to change the instruments. On the bottom in the middle, you can change the tempo, or speed, of the music. Play around with this section and create some cool songs!

The next section I want you to try is called Rhythm. This one is similar to Song Maker but is just rhythm. Try and create some cool beats in this section!

Have fun and be creative this week!

Music Activities April 20-24th

Hi 1st Grade Students!

I hope everyone enjoyed the music activities from last week. I miss seeing all of you in class every day and I hope you are doing well and staying healthy. This week I have a special project for you! I want you to sing these songs that we learned in music this year. The first song is "The Hello Song". Remember to sing after me during the song because it is an echo. This first link will be to a recorded version of "The Hello Song" for you to sing along with me.

Hello Song:

Next is one of our favorite songs, "Doggie Doggie".

Doggie Doggie:

The last song for this week is "Acka Backa".

Acka Backa:

After you have sang along to all 3 of the songs, I want you to teach someone in your house the songs above. It can be anyone in your house that you want to teach! Your mom, your dad, your grandma, your brother, whoever you want. Teach them the songs that we just sang together.

Have fun with these activities and we will sing some more together next week!

Music Activities April 14th-17th

Hi 1st Grade Students!

I hope everyone is staying healthy and doing well. Here are your music activities for this week!

First, I want you to watch this video for a review of solfege hand signs and singing.

Next, you are going to go on a scavenger hunt around your house!

Music Scavenger Hunt:
There's music all around us! Look around your home to see what you can find to demonstrate our music concepts. Be sure to ask an adult before playing any of your new instruments you find. If you want, send me a picture or list of everything you find! I would love to see what you find!
Find something that...
1) Makes a HIGH sound
2) Makes a LOW sound
3) Makes LOUD sounds
4) Makes SOFT sounds
5) Moves FAST
6) Moves SLOW
7) You can SHAKE to make a sound
8) You can SCRAPE or RUB to make a sound
9) You can tap that is made out of METAL
10) You can tap that is made out of WOOD
Bonus: Make up a song using one of your "instruments" you found.

Good luck on your scavenger hunt!

Have a great week!
